While many people will be spending their day in a Halloween candy coma on November 1st, this day also marks another special celebration… World Vegan Day! This world food day was created back in 1994 by Louise Wallis, the Chair of the Vegan Society of the United Kingdom. On this day, vegans around the globe come together to celebrate the human, animal and environmental benefits of eating a vegan diet. Even if you’re not a vegan yourself, consider showing support and going just one day without eating any animal products. To make things easy and prove that vegan food can still be delicious and super satisfying, I’ve put together this compilation of some of the best food ideas to help you celebrate World Vegan Day in the tastiest way possible:
Chili is one of the easiest, most satisfying cold-weather meals you can cook up and while most chilis are all about the meat, this vegan version featuring sweet potato and black beans is so satisfying that it might actually become your new go-to recipe, even for the most carnivorous of families.

Vegan burgers usually inspire all sort of images of dry, flavorless pucks pretending to be burgers, however that’s definitely not the case here! These Tex-Mex burgers are full of tongue-tingling flavor and get even better when topped with a savory vegan burger sauce.

It’s not really that hard to make a vegan pasta salad, but it can be tricky to make one that actually tastes good! Since cheese and mayonnaise-based dressings are off the menu, this recipe uses a zesty mustard dressing to top orecchiette pasta, cherry tomatoes, kale and diced green beans.

For most people sandwiches are an easy lunch option that doesn’t take much effort, but when deli meat, tuna and egg are all off the menu, what the heck does a vegan put on their sandwich?? We’ve got the answer right here in this tasty sandwich layered with roasted red pepper hummus, avocado and crunchy sauerkraut.

Stir-fried rice is such a simple but delicious meal, but forget about that greasy Chinese take-away… you can make a better (and vegan) version at home in minutes. This recipe is also perfect for getting rid of leftover cooked rice you might have laying around from a previous meal.

It has recently been discovered that when prepared accordingly, cauliflower can actually mimic a piece of battered, fried chicken in a way that will satisfy both vegans and their carnivorous counterparts. These Korean fried cauliflower bites are a prime example of the amazing versatility of vegetables.

It’s true, vegans tend to eat a lot of curry…but for good reason! You can make a rich, flavorful curry that’s packed with fiber and protein rich beans and legumes at home and I guarantee that it will rival any Indian take-away.

Rather than piling on the cheese and meat, this vegan pizza is all about crispy-edged, thinly sliced potatoes that get a flavor boost from rosemary and sweet caramelized onions.

The classic Sunday night roast is a meal most meat-eaters are very familiar with, but vegans don’t really get to share the same experience… or do they? This recipe treats a whole head of broccoli like a Sunday roast and even goes so far as to give the broccoli a spicy dry-rub treatment before it’s roasted and served with a tangy cider vinegar dip. Sunday nights have never looked so good.

You’d think ice cream would surely be one of those things you just have to remember as a thing of days past when you choose a vegan lifestyle, but this recipe proves that several things (ice cream, chocolate chips and peanut butter cookie dough) can all be adapted with delicious results.

Cheesecake? How is this possible? I mean, it’s in the name even… but that doesn’t stop this recipe which takes the classic cheesecake idea and makes it vegan by using an orange cashew creme filling before getting topped with a blueberry layer and fresh orange slices.

If you want to know the best cupcake shop in any major city in America, just ask Angela. This girl knows her sweets, and she isn't shy about letting you know that your german chocolate cake needs more chocolate. If you want to find Angela on any given day, she's probably looking up reviews to decide where to grab lunch, or in her downtime, binge-watching the latest 'it-series' on Netflix.
