Silk tie Easter eggs are quickly becoming the coolest and most innovative way to decorate eggs this time of year. Forget marble eggs or traditionally dyed Easter eggs, these incredibly cool and unique designs are the way to go. The best part of all? They’re super easy to make and the designs are endless.

If you’re making silk tie Easter eggs for the first time, you can use this step-by-step tutorial below. If you make them and you want to share your photos, leave a link in the comments section at the bottom of the page.

Okay, here we go:

Step 1. Find a 100 percent silk tie with a design you think is cool (or several, if you want to try a bunch of designs). It’s very important that the tie is 100 percent silk.

Step 2. Open the tie (or ties if you’re using more than one) by cutting the stitch in the middle from top to bottom. Once you cut it, you will realize there’s a white liner in the middle. Put this aside for later.

Step 3. Dampened the tie with water to make it easier to work with, then wrap your egg (use normal eggs at this point – not hard boiled) in the silk tie and tie it at one end so it’s completely covered. Be careful not to break the egg.

Step 4. Wrap the egg in string many times over and over to make sure the silk is tight to the egg.

Step 5. Now wrap the egg in the white liner you set aside earlier. If you don’t have white liner or there’s not enough material, you can use an old pillowcase or something to that effect.

Step 6. Set the eggs in a pot of water and 1/4 cup of white vinegar and boil for 20 minutes.

Step 7. Remove the eggs from the pot and place them in a bowl of cold water for 10 more minutes.

Step 8. Remove the white liner and the tie and reveal your beautifully decorated eggs to everyone!
