This is a super fun, easy hack for you to help organize your cupboard or fridge and create a simple snack station for your kids, whether you need it to stop them from yelling “Mooooooom I’m hungryyyyy” for the millionth time this summer break or simply want to make lunch-making easier when back to school hits. It’s super flexible and there are actually a few different ways to use it, depending on what fits your lifestyle best.

Looking for other ways to give your kitchen a DIY overhaul? Check out these Incredible, Life-Changing Ways To Organize Your Kitchen! What about those messy cupboards? Take a look at these Genius Ways To Organize Your Cupboards Using Dollar Store Items.

Start by getting a three-drawer plastic caddy (like THESE ones). We got ours from our local Walmart, but you should be able to find them all over the place, as they’re quite common. Using a chalk pen (like THIS one), write either your kids’ names or the names of the snacks that you’re going to put in each drawer. If you put snack names on the plastic caddy, it’ll act more as storage. If you put your kids’ names on it, it’ll be more like a snack “vending machine”, letting them keep track of how many snacks they have left for the day or week.

After stocking up on your usual snacks, it’s time to load up the drawers! Either divide up the snacks according to what each child is allotted or add specific snacks to their corresponding drawer. Restock whenever the snacks are running low and the kiddos start asking for snacks again! This is a great way to make sure your kids are getting some balance in what they eat. For example, they’re almost guaranteed to grab the fruit gummies first, but they know that have to eat the apple slices before they can ask for a snack drawer restock.

You can create a snack station that goes in your cupboard or fridge – it’s up to you! If you’re creating one that goes in the fridge, make sure you clear out a space that your kids can reach (if you want them to be able to, that is). It’s that simple!

Rhiannon Ball

Rhiannon loves to cook and bake but has also never said "no" to a takeout burrito (see, she's just like you!). Despite slowly running out of room in her cabinets, she continues to expand her collections of cookbooks and kitchen gadgets and is deeply jealous of people who can just "whip something up" without a recipe. When she's not in the kitchen, you can find her camping and hiking with her husband and rescue dog, Waffles.
