Christmas will be here before you know it, so it’s time to pull out your decorations and start baking! Christmas baking is one of the best parts of the season. You can involve your whole family in the process. We especially love chocolate treats at Christmas time. It’s the holidays, so don’t worry about eating these sweet desserts. You can think about dieting for a New Years resolution. Until then, let’s celebrate!

We collected our 12 favorite chocolate Christmas desserts from user submitted recipes. We have kid friendly frozen treats, and adult favorites with whiskey cupcakes. A personal favorite is the chocolate Ferraro Rocher cake with nutella ganache. Delicious!

12. Chocolate S’Mores Pie

This amazing pie starts with a chocolate custard base. It goes for a full chocolate flavor without any additives. If you want to bump up the flavor, consider adding nut extracts, liqueurs, or citrus zest. Mini marshmallows are added to the top and the whole pie is placed under the broiler. The result is a toasted and delicious dessert that everyone will love.

11. Chocolate Brownies

These brownies are ooey gooey in the middle, and crispy on the outside. They make the perfect brownie to top with ice cream. Hazelnuts are added for taste and texture. Chocolate and hazelnut is simply a match made in heaven. Make sure you bake extra of these brownies- they’ll disappear!

10. Idle Hand Bars

These beautiful bars are a marriage between salty and sweet. They are super rich, so cut small pieces for your guests. The recipe calls for topping the chocolate with a sprinkle of pink Himalayan salt. This can be a hard ingredient to find, so look for it in boutique grocery stores. The salt is mild and not overpowering, unlike regular table salt.

9. Whiskey Chocolate Cupcakes

This adult cupcake uses 1/2 cup of whiskey in the batter. If you’re serving dessert to children, replace the alcohol with milk and instead add a flavor extract. Orange or mint would work beautifully here. If you’re all adults and want an extra whiskey kick, consider adding a whiskey icing on top.

8. Swedish Chocolate Cake

This delicious Scandinavian chocolate cake will be a unique addition to your dinner table. The ingredients are simple- chocolate, eggs, sugar, butter, and flour. The result is what the recipe author calls the “sex cake”, since she calls it a great substitute. The icing sugar stenciling on the top just makes it even more beautiful.

7. Chocolate Pudding Brownies

These brownies are made with the help of a packet of chocolate pudding. This keeps them super moist and rich. Using pudding packages in other flavors will make some unique and delicious cakes. We’re thinking of butterscotch blondies! Your kids will love helping you make this easy dessert.

6. Chocolate Ferrero Rocher Cake

This amazing cake is all about the combination of hazelnuts and chocolate. Crushed Ferrero Rochers are added into the filling, along with Lindt chocolate and whipping cream. The ganache is made from nutella and more whipping cream. It might not be a beautiful cake, but it will blow your mind with flavor.

5. Molten Chocolate Cakes

These adorable cakes look simple, but when you cut into them the secret filling is a surprise. The center of these cakes stay raw, so it acts as “lava”. These cakes make an amazing dessert for guests. Keeping them together once baked can be a challenge. Move them very carefully and make sure you put extra non-stick spray in the pan.

4. Sacher Torte

This cake is unique in that it uses yeast and not baking powder to rise. The result is a fluffy and light sponge. Apricot jam is used for the filling, but you can substitute any flavor of jam. Raspberry would be particularly nice. The topping is melted chocolate. If this will be too hard for you, make a ganache with equal parts cream to chocolate.

3. No Bake Frozen S’Mores Bars

These frozen chocolate treats are a perfect dessert for children. These are a snap to make, and would be a great activity for your children to help with. Yogurt, chocolate, and heavy cream make the base, and marshmallows and graham cracker are added for texture and flavor. You can use any flavor of yogurt, even natural.

2. Compost Toffee

This toffee can have almost any treat added to it and still be delicious. This chocolate treat is fast to make and turns out delicious every time. Add a touch of vanilla extract to the boiling toffee right before you go to pour it. This will help enhance the flavors. Some toppings to sprinkle over the chocolate are pretzels, candy cane, and dried fruit. They’re called compost toffee since you can throw all your odds and ends in your pantry on them.

These kid friendly treats are super simple to make. Simply mix together peanut butter, butter, and powdered sugar until it forms a dough. Shape it into small balls and dip them into melted chocolate. These would be the perfect dessert to serve with coffee and tea after a large dinner. If you or a loved one have a peanut allergy, substitute soy nut butter for the peanut butter.
